In deepest respect for the religious beliefs of all persons here, I invite you into a time of prayer and reflection. Let us pray. God our Creator, you have given us this land we call home as a gift; help us to use it wisely. You have given us friends and neighbors to represent; help us to represent them fairly. You have given us family to love and care for; help us to love them fully. But most of all you have given your spirit to us; help us to love abundantly. We ask that you help us choose wisely what we do with all the gifts you have bestowed on us. And to remember that today is a gift we will never have again. May we live it completely in your honor in all we say and do. Amen.
