Roll call showed 33 members present. Representative Gruenberg was absent. Representative Coghill moved and asked unanimous consent that Representatives Cissna, Croft, Elkins, Joule, Moses, and Neuman be excused from a call of the House today. There being no objection, it was so ordered. The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, Representative Coghill. Representative Dahlstrom moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it was so ordered. III, sec. 17, of the Alaska Constitution, and in the public interest, I call the Twenty-Fourth Legislature of the State of Alaska into its fourth special session at Juneau, Alaska in the legislative chambers on November 13, 2006, at 11:00 a.m., to consider the subject of employment-related benefits for same-sex domestic partners of state employees and retirees under the state's retirement systems. Representative Coghill moved and asked unanimous consent that SCR 401 be taken up as a Special Order of Business. Representative Berkowitz objected. Representative Coghill moved and asked unanimous consent to withdraw the motion. There being no objection, it was so ordered. The Speaker referred SCR 401 to the Rules Committee for placement on the calendar.
