Representatives Foster and Salmon had been previously excused from a call of the House today. Representatives Anderson, Berkowitz, Hawker, Kerttula, Kohring, McGuire, Meyer, and Rokeberg were absent and their presence was noted later. The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, the Reverend Steve Olmstead of Chapel by the Lake Presbyterian Church. Representative LeDoux moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it was so ordered. Gracious and loving God, we pray for Your truth to guide and uplift all those who lead this state. We pray especially for the representatives here in this room. We pray for their families and for all those who work with and for them. Give each leader a humble heart, a wise and discerning mind, and a resolve to seek and to do Your will. You know the temptations of power. You know the tendency of the human heart to be bent in on itself. O Lord, give courage to this governing body to serve the true needs of this state. Let their hearts be open to serve others. May compassion for the poor and the marginalized be evident in their lives and in their decisions. 2006-04-12 House Journal Page 3100 In this Holy Week, as the Christian church celebrates the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus, may all who gather in this place be touched by the power of sacrifice and resurrection.
