Senators Davis, Lincoln were excused from a call of the Senate. Senator Wagoner was absent. Senator Ben Stevens moved and asked unanimous consent that Senator Wagoner be excused from a call of the Senate today due to illness. Without objection, Senator Wagoner was excused. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Father Thomas Weise of St. Paul's Catholic Church. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. With the deepest respect for the religious beliefs and convictions of all Alaskans, I offer the following prayer: Father in Heaven, creator of unfailing light, give that same light to those who call to You. May our lips praise You, our lives proclaim Your goodness, our works give You honor, and our voices celebrate You forever. Gracious God, You created us and placed us within families to learn how to love and be loved. We praise You for Your goodness, we thank You for the gifts You have given us. Bless our state with Your love. Raise up in Alaska good and holy families, loving husbands and wives, devoted parents and children. Raise up from our families and friends dedicated and generous leaders who will serve as model Alaskans in our communities. Certification Senator Ben Stevens moved and asked unanimous consent that the journals for the fifteenth and sixteenth legislative days be approved as certified by the Secretary. Without objection, it was so ordered. Messages from the House SB 173 Message dated January 26 was read, stating the House passed and returned: SENATE BILL NO. 173(efd fld) "An Act repealing statutes pertaining to the Alaska Science and Technology Foundation and transferring money in the foundation's endowment; repealing statutes relating to the BIDCO assistance program; repealing statutes pertaining to the international trade and business endowment and transferring money in the international trade and business endowment; transferring oversight administration of outstanding Alaska Science and Technology Foundation loans and grants to the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority; establishing an Alaska BIDCO assistance program to be administered by the Department of Community and Economic Development; and making conforming amendments."
