Lord, this is indeed a diverse Senate body - just as the
people of our state are a diverse people. Different
races, different cultures, backgrounds and different
beliefs. You made us all different. We may have
different names for You, God, but we all come to
You for our guidance and help. Today I pray that
You will use the diversity within this body as within
our state not as a weakness but as our strength. As we
share with one another - work together - may we do
our best to see things from the other's point of view,
"walk a mile in his moccasins," if you will, and be
the richer for it. As these Senators, each different,
bring their agendas to the table, may the needs of all
their constituents be considered, from the smallest,
farthest village in the Interior, to this capital city, to
urban Anchorage. And we will give You the praise
and glory for all things. Amen.
