Representative Ogan was excused from a call of the House today because of illness. Representatives Berkowitz, Chenault, Croft, Davies, Joule, Kapsner, Kookesh, McGuire, and Moses were absent and their presence was noted later. The invocation was offered by Representative Hayes, Chaplain Designee. Representative Green moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it was so ordered. Today, I'll talk about humility. One of the things my mother always told us when we were growing up was to be happy in times of despair, to be gracious in times of defeat, and to be respectful to friends and enemies alike. In this building, I don't think we have any enemies. I'm sorry to see our good friend from District 27 having to go home. I'm very happy that everyone is in good spirits and good health, for the most part, in this building. I wish us luck in what we are trying to do in this day, a second day of our special session, and I hope we can all go home to our loved ones soon. Thank you. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Mulder. 2002-05-18 House Journal Page 3864 CERTIFICATION OF THE JOURNAL Representative James moved and asked unanimous consent that the journal for the 121st legislative day be approved as certified by the Chief Clerk.
