The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Father Mike Nash of the Cathedral of the Nativity Catholic Church. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Loving God, we praise You for the boundless goodness You have lavished on Your people. You have given us the precious gifts of freedom and self-determination. We in Alaska have bound ourselves together in a political community, and will travel into the future together. Here in this chamber of the Alaska State Senate, may the hopes and dreams of each Alaskan, from the smallest to the greatest, be valued and cherished. In the ancient and honorable tradition of politics, may it be the goal of each member of this body to advance the common good. We pray You gracious Lord. Amen. Senator Pete Kelly led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance. Certification Senator Mackie moved and asked unanimous consent that the journal for the seventy-second legislative day be approved as certified by the Secretary. Without objection, it was so ordered. 2689 2000-03-22 Senate Journal Page 2690 Reconsideration of Senate Bills SB 269 Senator Tim Kelly requested that the reconsideration on CS FOR SENATE BILL NO. 269(RLS) be taken up. The bill was before the Senate on reconsideration. Senator Elton moved that the bill be returned to second reading for the purpose of a specific amendment, that being Amendment No. 1. Without objection, the bill was returned to second reading. Senators Elton, Tim Kelly offered Amendment No. 1 : Page 2, line 2: Delete "The" Insert "Unless otherwise authorized by the legislature, the" Senator Elton moved for the adoption of Amendment No. 1. Senator Halford objected, then withdrew his objection. There being no further objections, Amendment No. 1 was adopted. CS FOR SENATE BILL NO. 269(RLS) am was automatically in third reading.
