Senators Adams, Donley were excused from a call of the Senate. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Greg Lindsay of the Northern Light United Church. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. In respect for one anothers spiritual journeys, let us take a few moments to focus on that which is most sacred. Let us pray: O God, You Who hear our deepest longings, our fears, our hopes and our dreams. Teach us to listen like You do. For You listen to us, O God, when our prayers are not yet formed into words. Order our day toward listening. As we listen may we hear the hidden hopes and dreams of what is being said not just what we want to hear. O God, may we practice compassion as we listen. God of all sounds, may we discover the sound of Your voice in all that we hear. Amen. Senator Pete Kelly led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance. 2487 2000-03-02 Senate Journal Page 2488 Certification Senator Mackie moved and asked unanimous consent that the journal for the fifty-second legislative day be approved as certified by the Secretary.
