The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Greg Clark of the Glacier Valley Baptist Church. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. We acknowledge You today O Lord with the words of David as recorded in Psalms, Chapter 8: O Lord, our Lord, How excellent is Your Name in all the earth, Who have set Your glory above the heavens! Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, because of Your enemies, that You may silence the enemy and the avenger. When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor. You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet, All sheep and oxen; Even the beasts of the field, The birds of the air, And the fish of the sea that pass through the paths of the seas. O Lord, our Lord, How excellent is Your Name in all the earth! 2327 2000-02-17 Senate Journal Page 2328 Father, we lift this time up to You and ask Your blessings to be upon these proceedings. We thank You for the senators of our great state and we pray for them and the responsibilities that they shoulder. Give them wisdom as they deliberate and grant them vision for the betterment of our land and its people. Forgive us Lord when we have been overly critical and judgmental of our leaders and fellow men. Help us to remember that praying for them will always accomplish more than anything we can do. We ask You again to remind us on a regular basis the injunction to pray for those in authority that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. We offer this prayer to You in the Name of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen. Senator Donley led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance. Certification Senator Mackie moved and asked unanimous consent that the journal for the thirty-eighth legislative day be approved as certified by the Secretary. Without objection, it was so ordered.
