The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Cary Henrichsen of the Auke Bay Bible Church. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. I ask that we begin this morning by observing a moment of silence for families of the children who were tragically killed a few days ago in Colorado. Lord, it is my sincere prayer that this would never happen in our schools. Our hearts go out to them this morning. James 1:5 tells us If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. This morning, Lord, on behalf of this body of men and women who stand before You in the midst of a difficult task, I ask that You would give to each of them the wisdom and discernment to determine what is best for the people of Alaska. I am confident Lord, that while the challenge is great, You are greater, and are able to show our Senators the way they should go. We ask humbly and in expectation of Your wise and generous answer, as we pray in Jesus name, Amen. Senator Leman led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance. 1035 1999-04-22 Senate Journal Page 1036 Certification Senator Mackie moved and asked unanimous consent that the journal for the ninety-third legislative day be approved as certified by the Secretary.
