With respect for the religious traditions of each person present, I invite you into a time of prayer and reflection. Let us pray: God of all time and space, Creator of the universe, Author of life, we give You thanks for this day; for the sun and the rain, for gray skies and blue. May we be open to receive the entire day--good and bad --struggle and celebration--as a gift from You. As the gift of Your day is unwrapped, help us be present to the important tasks with hearts filled with compassion, with minds that are clear and focused, and with hands willing to truly serve the people who are most in need. For the gift of this day, and the opportunities to serve, we give You thanks. Amen.
