Senators Pete Kelly, Lincoln were excused from a call of the Senate. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Wayne Coggins of the Cornerstone Family Ministries. Heavenly Father: Thank You, Lord, for interrupting our lives now and then with invitations to experience a bit of joy in the midst of our stressful daily dilemmas. Help us to learn from Psalm 23 that You occasionally prepare a table before us in the presence of our enemies. What an unlikely place to be invited to sit at a table and have lunch and fellowship with You...in the presence of our enemies! Personally, I thank You, Lord, for the call I received from our three-year old grandson last week on my private line into my counseling office. Right in the middle of a rather tense session, he called to say, Papa Wayne, I miss you...can we go have chicken nuggets together? Thank You Lord, that during that lunch hour, I had a strong awareness that You had interrupted my life to inject a three- year olds joy into my furrowed-brow day! 559 1999-03-16 Senate Journal Page 0560 Help us all today, Lord, to be on the lookout for those divine interruptions...they may well be the best part of our day!
