The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, The Reverend Wilson Valentine of St. Brendans Episcopal Church. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. We pause this morning to offer praise and thanks to the One Who created the vast wonders of life, resource, and beauty that surround us on a daily basis and for which we are called to use, protect and care. At times we may be wearied by the chances and changes of this modern life, yet Your assurance of goodness and love for all that has been created guides us through another day. Our thankfulness for bringing us safely back to these chambers to carry out the solemn call and charge given to us by the people of the State of Alaska leads us to acknowledge our dependence on Your providence and our need for each other. Make this day one for which we may celebrate when it comes to an end and we lay down to be restored in sleep and rest. In the morrow, wake us with hope for that new day, as You create, redeem and sustain our lives. Amen. Senator Leman led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance. 395 1999-03-03 Senate Journal Page 0396 Certification Senator Mackie moved and asked unanimous consent that the journals for the thirty-ninth through forty-third legislative days be approved as certified by the Secretary.
