The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor James Brubaker of the Faith Lutheran Church. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Our great and gracious God, we have turned away from You to go our own way. We are confused, by losing faith in You, we have lost faith in ourselves. Forgive us our selfishness, our arrogance, our wastefulness, and ingratitude and fill us with new faith, new courage, and new strength to fulfill our obligations to the people who placed their trust in us and to You who has given us all things. Help us not to focus on the things we dont have, or on things we wish we could have, rather may we focus on what we do have and be truly grateful for all that You have given us. May we use these vast resources with great wisdom and with responsibility to future generations. Bless especially the men and women of this chamber, all our legislators, our governor and all state officers, our judges, and all who serve You by serving others. By our public service, may we all strive to be worthy of Your promise of peace on earth and good will for all. Amen. 225 1999-02-11 Senate Journal Page 0226 Senator Lincoln led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance.
