Representative Barnes had been previously excused from a call of the House today. Representative Croft was absent and his presence was noted later. The invocation was offered by Pastor Greg Lindsay of the Northern Light United Church. Representative Hudson moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it appears below: Once again, respecting the religious life and path of each person here, let us pause for a moment of prayer and reflection: Lord of all life, past, present and future; order our day's agenda that we might serve where You would need us the most. MESSAGES FROM THE SENATE A message dated January 11, 2000, was read stating the Senate has confirmed reappointment of Shirley McCoy as a public member of the Select Committee on Legislative Ethics. A message dated January 11, 2000, was read stating the Senate has accepted the House invitation to meet in joint session in the House Chamber at 7:00 p.m., January 12 to hear the Governor's combined State of the State and State of the Budget message. SB 101 A message dated January 10, 2000, was read stating the Senate has rescinded previous action in passing: CONFERENCE CS FOR SENATE BILL NO. 101(2d CC) "An Act relating to disasters and to the disaster relief fund." Senator Mackie moved and asked unanimous consent that the roll call of the Senate be waived and all members be shown as present. There being no objection, it was so ordered. President Pearce introduced the Lieutenant Governor of the State of Alaska, the Honorable Fran Ulmer and welcomed the Governor. Governor Knowles delivered his address and it appears in House & Senate Joint Journal Supplement No. 8. Governor Knowles received a standing ovation and was escorted from the Chamber by Representative Grussendorf and Senator Phillips. Senator Mackie moved and asked unanimous consent that the joint session adjourn.
