Representatives Halcro, Moses and Ogan had been previously excused from a call of the House today. Representative Mulder was absent and his presence was noted later. The invocation was offered by Nancy M. Campbell, Prayer Minister of the Gospel Outreach Christian Center. Representative Hudson moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it appears below: Ezekiel 22:30 "So, I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land..." Lord, this day, I stand before You, in the gap, for these legislators and I lift them up to You. Psalms 37:5 "Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass." I commit them into Your Hand, according to Your Word. I commit their ways to You, and I trust in You for Your Divine Favor to rest upon them. I Kings 3:9 "Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?" 1999-04-19 House Journal Page 0862 I pray for these men and women, even as King Solomon prayed for himself, that You would give them an understanding heart to discern between good and evil as they represent the people of our state. Matthew 7:7, 8 "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened." Lord, I'm asking for clarity of mind, for encouragement, discernment, and the peace of God, that peace that passes all understanding, for this House of Representatives, not only today, but for the rest of this session. Grant them Your wisdom. Jeremiah 32:17 "Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too difficult for You." Lord, according to Your Word, the Holy Bible, nothing is impossible to You. So, this day, I pray that in every situation that seems impossible to this group of people, that You make a way. Give these legislators workable solutions for unresolved issues that lie ahead of them. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus' name, Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Hudson. CERTIFICATION OF THE JOURNAL Representative Green moved and asked unanimous consent that the journal for the 88th, 89th and 90th legislative days be approved as certified by the Chief Clerk.
