The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, Father Peter Gorges of the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Representative Davies moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it appears below: Oh, Lord God of ice and snow, wind and rain, sun and blue sky, we come before You once again, asking Your blessing on this assembly. Lord, You have given us this great State of Alaska, with all of its variations of weather and terrain. You have filled our land with resources and populated our towns and cities with some wonderful people. They have sent us here to discern Your will and they have empowered us to legislate what is best for the land and people. Lord, give us the wisdom to know Your will. Give us the courage to follow our deepest convictions. Give us the flexibility to compromise, when compromise is needed for the common good. Bless those who work with us as staffers and associates. Help us, together, do what is needed for Alaska, and all those who call themselves "Alaskans." Amen The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Brice. 1999-02-08 House Journal Page 0156 CERTIFICATION OF THE JOURNAL Representative Green moved and asked unanimous consent that the journal for the 18th, 19th and 20th legislative days be approved as certified by the Chief Clerk.
