The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Bishop Michael Warfel of the Roman Catholic Church, Diocese of Juneau. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Almighty God of life, You believe in us and will be the best in us and for us. Open our hearts and minds always to know Your presence. I ask Your blessing upon this Senate body. This day, empower them to see and to view the life You give as a gift, a gift given in trust from You for the benefit of all. Take their hearts and minds and enable them to know the correct path to take. If by chance they become distracted by the twists and turns that so often sway us, call them back to the memory of the trust they have been given. Enable them to provide healing, hope and wholeness to the people of Alaska whom they serve. Give them eyes to watch for and to see the wonders of Your creation, especially in the women and men You have made and their children. May their decision making strengthen and nurture all our lives. I ask Your blessing upon them now and all days. Amen. 2827 1998-03-11 Senate Journal Page 2828 Senator Taylor led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance.
