Senator Taylor was absent. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Wayne Coggins of the Cornerstone Family Ministries. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Heavenly Father, today Lord, we pause to give You thanks for the wonderful gift of a free will and the ability to make choices, big ones, small ones and everything in between. We thank You that today, at this moment, we can all choose how we will live our lives. We can either idle along on cruise control or live life full throttle with the proverbial pedal to the metal! Though admittedly it doesnt sound too spiritual Lord, sometimes life seems a lot like eating watermelon. There are two ways to go about it. One, is to visit a salad bar and load up a plastic container with sanitized little bite-sized watermelon cubes which, when eaten, will hardly be a memorable experience. The other way can only be done sitting on your back porch on a hot Saturday 2559 1998-02-18 Senate Journal Page 2560 afternoon in your old blue jeans and a T-shirt with a half-moon sized slab of ice cold watermelon...no plates, no forks, no napkins...just dive in with gusto while juice runs down your chin and forearms! Now, that is fulfilling. So with that little word picture in our minds, Lord, I ask that You would help us all to live this life as You intended it to be lived - with all of our heart! Amen. Senator Torgerson led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance. Certification Senator Leman, Acting Majority Leader, moved and asked unanimous consent that the journal for the thirty-seventh legislative day be approved as certified by the Secretary.
