Senators Donley, Duncan, Salo were absent. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Senator Lincoln. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Thank You, Dear Lord, for once again a beautiful day. When I asked Reverend Scott Fisher to help me with this prayer, he said, close your eyes and picture the ice crystals melting on the rivers and you will know what to say. I did, and what I envisioned was just as we pray to You each spring; to watch over those in the river communities, as that beautiful crystal turns to water and the ice begins to move, that they not be in harms way. So too, Dear Lord, we ask You to watch over this body. As we begin our meltdown, as this session will churn and turn, the final results will be an easy break-up. One without an ice-jam. One without endangering those we were sent here to protect and serve. We ask for Your guidance and Your love, that we may see the wisdom in all that is about us, for the answer to our ice-jam today. In this we pray to You Dear Lord. Amen. 4231 1996-05-13 Senate Journal Page 4232 The presence of Senator Donley was noted. Senator Lincoln led the Senate in the pledge of allegiance.
