Representatives Masek and Davies had been previously excused from a call of the House today. Representative Nicholia was excused due to illness. Representative Vezey moved and asked unanimous consent that Representative MacLean (previously excused on page 134) and Representative Kubina (previously excused on page 134), extend their excuse through today. There being no objection, it was so ordered. The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, Reverend Wayne Coggins of the Cornerstone Family Ministries. Representative Hanley moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it appears below: "Heavenly Father, We stand before You with grateful hearts for Your many blessings upon our country, our state, and our personal lives. Being a leader is difficult at best. It seems like everyone wants something from us and the winds of opinion blow strongly here in Juneau. Sometimes it can be lonely trying to serve a people who can sing our praises one day and be venting criticism the next. 1 1995-02-06 House Journal Page 0250 Your Word says that the prayers You answer are the ones that are earnest, heartfelt and sincere. So, with sincere hearts, we earnestly ask You for wisdom to serve the people of Alaska...wisdom to see the heart of each matter...wisdom to discern truth from distortion and the courage to stand for what is just and right. Thank You. Amen." The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Green.
