Hickel, Governor: Dear Governor Hickel, The House of Representatives has attempted to adjourn the First Session of the Eighteenth Alaska State Legislature without the Senate's concurrence. As you know, Article II, Sec. 10, of the Alaska State Constitution requires concurrence of both bodies for adjournment. After conferring with Senate colleagues, I am respectfully requesting you issue a proclamation calling the House of Representatives back into session at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 28, 1993, to ensure the state's business is completed for the benefit of its people. It is imperative that the House and Senate resolve several important matters remaining before us. Still to be agreed upon are legislation which addresses gaming reform, capital matching grants, school construction, power transmission lines, senior property tax exemptions, the longevity bonus and welfare reform. In addition, both bodies must come to terms on acceptable operating and capital budgets to come to you for the coming fiscal year. The Senate will remain in Session and continue working toward an orderly adjournment. Your efforts to assist in reaching that goal by returning the House to work tomorrow are appreciated.
