Senator Salo was excused from a call of the Senate. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Johnny Reimer of the Auke Bay Bible Church. Senator Leman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayers for the fifty-seventh, fifty-eighth and fifty-ninth legislative days be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. March 8 Our God and Heavenly Father, receive our thanks and gratitude for Your daily mercies and benefits. We acknowledge that as created beings we are dependent upon our Creator God. We thank You that You have not dealt with us as we deserve, but in grace and mercy You have sought us and are drawing us to Yourself and Your salvation. You have bestowed upon us some awesome responsibilities here in this world. Forgive us for the times we don't seem to care about others around us. There are times we lack the knowledge to know what needs to be done and how to do it. Sometimes we simply lack the courage to do what is right and proper. Forgive us. We ask You for the wisdom, the courage, and the strength to lead our State and our Nation in the right way. Through Jesus Christ we seek Your 703 1993-03-10 Senate Journal Page 0704 forgiveness for our sins, and the power to live our lives in love and righteousness. Grant us Your peace in a world of unrest. Amen. March 9 Our God and Heavenly Father, we come into Your presence today, grateful for Your mercy and grace. Thank You for this new day of opportunity and responsibility. Thank You for the daily blessings which are often taken for granted until they are removed from us. We intercede today on behalf of the many people in our world who are in desperate situations, many not sure of seeing the light of another day on earth. We pray that the eyes of our souls would be opened to the truth that true peace and rest is found in You alone, Oh Lord. Grant us the courage and strength to improve the condition of the unfortunate and truly needy where we can. Forgive us for our selfishness and our pride. Grant us the ability to be Your humble servants as we take up our responsibilities for this day. Thank You for not staying away when we fail, and for listening when we honestly call upon You. In the name of Christ we pray. Amen. March 10 Our God, and Heavenly Father, we come into Your presence today through the merits of Jesus Christ the Lord. We rejoice in Your sovereignty, Your providence, Your goodness, and Your love. Teach us how to love You and serve You. Grant us the willingness to be the instruments of Your love and peace to a lonely and needy world around us. We pray for the President, his cabinet, and other leaders of our nation, that they will be wise in the decisions they make. We pray for our Governor, his cabinet, the Senators and Representatives, and other leaders of our State, that good choices will be made. 1993-03-10 Senate Journal Page 0705 There are decisions and difficulties we face which will affect the lives of others today and in the time to come. Since You know the end from the beginning we ask that You would deliver us from mere selfish gains and pursuits. We need wisdom and insight to make the right choices and decisions. Grant us a willing dependence upon You as we face the tasks of this day. Amen. Senator Jacko led the Senate in the pledge of allegiance.
