"Our most gracious heavenly Father, Lord Jesus we look to
You today for guidance, for love, for understanding and for
peace in our hearts. Lord, we know these gifts come from
You. We know that they are ours to claim if we would but
reach out. We look up to You, each member of the
Legislature. You know us by name. You know each of us.
You know our needs. You know our wants.

But today Lord, we're looking to You for guidance and for
leadership qualities in each member here. We know that they
belong to You and for this, Lord, we are thankful. We are
thankful that we can look to You daily for guidance. We are
thankful for all that You do for us. We are thankful to You
for being our Father and our Friend. We are thankful that we

can talk to You and tell You all that troubles us. But more,
we also want to share our joys with You - those things that
bring joy into our lives - those things that bring understanding.
We thank You for our families and our friends. We thank
You for these, Your servants who are here today to give of
their best for You. And more, we just pray for wisdom and
understanding for them as they lead the people of Alaska. As
they are representing each of us in Alaska, we pray that they
would look to You for guidance and that they would start
each day with You. And for this we are thankful and that
they might also end each day with You. We are thankful for
these who set aside their time for You. It isn't always an easy
task we know, but we know we can come to You. And as we
make decisions that affect all of us, we just pray that the
wisdom would come from You. And Lord, today we lean on
Your strength because we don't have any ourselves. The
strength that only You can provide - the peace of heart, mind
and soul that You can provide.

Thank You Lord, for listening to our petitions today. These
things we ask in the name of Your Son, Jesus. Amen."

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Martin.
