Representative Phillips moved and asked unanimous consent that Representative MacLean be excused from a call of the House today. There being no objection, it was so ordered. The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Chris Grube of the Church of the Nazarene. Representative Kott moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it appears below: "Our Father, we look to You today as the author and finisher of our faith. You are sovereign over all. If ever we needed Thy wisdom and guidance it is now as this legislature begins this new session standing on the threshold of this new year, laden with so many risky opportunities. I pray that You would bless these men and women who have been chosen by the people of this state, for You know them, their needs, their motives, their hopes, and their fears. Lord, Jesus put Your arm around them to give them strength when they feel weak, and power to speak when they feel inadequate, and give them wisdom that is greater than their own. May they hear Your voice and seek Your guidance. 1 1994-01-12 House Journal Page 2038 And Father, would You remind them that You are concerned about what is said and done here, and may they have a clear conscience before You, that they need no fear of man or woman. Bless each of us according to our deepest need, and use us for Your glory. We make these petitions in Jesus' name. Amen!" The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Foster.
