Representative Finkelstein was absent. Representative Phillips moved and asked unanimous consent that Representative Martin be excused from a call of the House today from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, Reverend Chris Grube of the Church of the Nazarene. Representative Menard moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it appears below: "Our Father, we are thankful people. We recognize Your holiness and purity. We praise You for the work of redemption provided through Your only son, Jesus, on Calvary's tree. We cannot exalt Your name enough. You are worthy of our praise. Lord, we confess our need of You. We could not do a thing without Your help and guidance. James said, 'the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.' Help us, O Lord, to be men and women of righteousness. To live a life worthy of Your calling. 1 1993-02-10 House Journal Page 0270 Father, this body today faces issues and problems that are overwhelming in their sight. Help them to view these concerns through the eyes of Jesus that they might get a new perspective on things. Lord, may they know Your will as they carry out the business of the great state of Alaska, and may they fulfill Your will in so doing. Grant each of their families understanding as they execute this demanding responsibility. O God, will You pour out Your spirit upon these exceptional people today as they prepare for this day's work. Will You bless them in all their activities. And will You help them in overcoming any trials or temptations that may come their way. This we ask in that wonderful name of Jesus! Amen." The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Davidson.
