The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, Reverend Chris Grube of the Church of the Nazarene. Representative Hudson moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it appears below: "Our Father, we thank You for the many blessings You have bestowed upon us. We praise You for Your handiwork. We exalt Your name above the heavens. We acknowledge Your majesty and power, compassion and love for us through the cross of Christ. As the Psalmist, David prayed, 'Cleanse me with Hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me and I will be whiter than snow... create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from Your presence or take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore me to the joy of Your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.' 1 1993-02-08 House Journal Page 0248 Father, I petition You to grant mercy and grace to this House of Representatives today. Give them wisdom and strength to accomplish the tasks before them. May they face their challenges and concerns with the knowledge that God is in their presence. O Lord, as You look down upon us today, You see the hurting hearts, You see the perplexed people, You see the needs of the needy. Privilege them with an abundance of heaven, and may they know that You are God. In the matchless name of Jesus we pray! Amen." The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Mulder.
