The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, Reverend Herbert McMurtry of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Representative Kott moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it appears below: "Almighty God, as we begin to get acquainted with this new year and its demands, we realize that it will bring many changes. The old must give place to the new. Time does not stand still, nor does the world cease from its turning. Give us, we pray, the courage and fortitude of mature women and men - courage that will enable us to stand upon our faith, as the spirit of the living Lord shall give us strength. In Thy strong name we pray. Amen." The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative B.Davis. CERTIFICATION OF THE JOURNAL Representative Phillips moved and asked unanimous consent that the journal for the second legislative day be approved as certified by the Chief Clerk. There being no objection, it was so ordered. 1 1993-01-13 House Journal Page 0052 COMMUNICATIONS The following memorandum dated January 12, 1993, was received from David Dierdorff, Revisor of Statutes, Division of Legal Services, Legislative Affairs Agency: "Under the provisions of section 8, ch. 56, SLA 1991, the commissioner of fish and game certified to me on December 29, 1992, that the Paint River fish ladder began operation on January 1, 1993. Consequently, sections 2 - 4, ch. 56, SLA 1991, took effect on January 1, 1993." The memorandum is on file in the Chief Clerk's office. Representative Williams objected for the following technical change: add "Jr." to "Albert Shields". The Chief Clerk was instructed to make the change.
