CHAIRMAN MILLER called the Senate Rules Committee meeting to order
at 12:04 p.m.
CHAIRMAN MILLER brought SSSB 20 (STATE AID TO MUNIS & UNORGANIZED
BOROUGH) before the committee as the first order of business.
Hearing no discussion, he asked for the pleasure of the committee.
SENATOR SHARP moved and asked unanimous consent SSSB 20 be approved
for calendaring. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered.
CHAIRMAN MILLER brought SB 177 (CONCEALED HANDGUN PERMITS/ GUNS ON
FERRY) before the committee, and hearing no discussion, he asked
for the pleasure of the committee.
SENATOR SHARP moved and asked unanimous consent SB 177 be approved
for calendaring. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered.
CHAIRMAN MILLER brought SB 181 (PROHIBITED HIGHWAY ADVERTISING)
before the committee. Hearing no discussion, he asked for the
pleasure of the committee.
SENATOR SHARP moved and asked unanimous consent SB 181 be approved
for calendaring. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered.
CHAIRMAN MILLER brought SB 211 (VULNERABLE PEOPLE: NEGLECT,
ASSAULT, ABUSE) before the committee and directed attention to a
draft Rules CS.
MARY GORE, committee aide, explained that on page 1, line 12 and
page 2, line 14 of the committee substitute, the words "entrusted
to" are deleted and the word "in" is inserted to make the language
in the bill consistent with other statutes. On page 3, line 15 the
word "knowingly" was deleted.
SENATOR DUNCAN moved the adoption of CSSB 211(RLS). Hearing no
objection, the motion carried.
SENATOR SHARP moved and asked unanimous consent CSSB 211(RLS) be
approved for calendaring. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered.
CHAIRMAN MILLER brought HB 502 (CONDUCTING AUCTIONS OF REAL
PROPERTY) before the committee. Hearing no discussion, he asked
for the pleasure of the committee.
SENATOR SHARP moved and asked unanimous consent HB 502 be approved
for calendaring. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered.
CHAIRMAN MILLER brought HJR 62 (FED PURCHASE SURPLUS '95 CANNED
SALMON) before the committee. Hearing no discussion, he asked for
the pleasure of the committee.

CHAIRMAN MILLER brought CSHB 226(FIN) am (BENEFIT DISCRIM BASED ON
SPOUSE OR KIDS) before the committee.
SENATOR PEARCE moved and asked unanimous consent CSHB 226(FIN) am
be approved for calendaring. SENATOR DUNCAN objected. The roll
was taken with the following result: Senators Sharp, Pearce and
Miller voted "Yea" and Senators Salo and Duncan voted "Nay." The
Chairman stated the motion carried.
