Number 001
CHAIRMAN ROBIN TAYLOR called the Judiciary Committee meeting to
order at 1:13 p.m. He brought SB 1011 (PUB SCHOOL
TRANS/CONSTRUCTION/STATE AID) before the committee and explained it
is similar to legislation that was previously taken up during the
regular session. On June 3, the Senate concurred in the House
amendments to CSSB 244(FIN) am (STATE AID TO EDUCATION), and SB
1011 was introduced as a backup measure if for some reason SB 244
does not make it all the way through the process.
CHAIRMAN TAYLOR directed attention to a proposed CSSB 1011(JUD)
which deletes Sections 1 and 2 as contained in the original bill.
SENATOR GREEN moved the adoption of CSSB 1011(JUD), version "C,"
and hearing no objection, the Chairman stated the motion carried.
Number 050
EDDY JEANS, Division of School Finance, Department of Education,
stated the Judiciary CS is "all right" with the department although
HCS CSSB 244(FIN) am H is their bill of preference.
Number 070
There being no further discussion on CSSB 1011(JUD), CHAIRMAN
TAYLOR asked for the pleasure of the committee.
SENATOR GREEN moved CSSB 1011(JUD) pass out of committee with
individual recommendations. Hearing no objection, it was so
ordered.
There being no further business to come before the committee, the
meeting was adjourned at 1:18 p.m.
