Today I am joined by all of the Presbyterian clergy in our denomination who currently serve in Alaska. They serve the communities of Kake, Haines, Skagway, and Juneau. As clergy, we and our congregations are deeply committed to serving each member of our communities. With great respect for the religious beliefs of each person here, I invite you into a time of prayer and reflection. 2024-04-12 House Journal Page 2280 Let us pray: Gracious God, in you one may see perfect unity as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In you one may see in your very nature an endless wellspring of love between your persons, which is why one can say God is love. One may see in your character mercy, grace, justice, righteousness, wisdom, and truth. You are ultimate good, and you are the one who is worthy of all honor. I ask that all the work done by these servants reflect honesty, integrity, charity, patience, and unity. May their decisions bear good fruit that benefits all who call Alaska home. Protect us from all who would seek to destroy our freedoms or distort the image of God in which all people are made. On this, the anniversary of his death, I close this prayer with the final words of prayer that President Franklin D. Roosevelt shared in a national radio address with an anxious nation on June 6th, D-Day, 1944. We pray for: a peace that will let all of men live in freedom, reaping the just rewards of their honest toil. Thy will be done, Almighty God. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Himschoot.
