With the deepest respect for the spiritual beliefs of all Alaskans, I invite everyone to join in a moment of prayer and reflection: On this day, may we each be thankful. Let us each be thankful for the many joys of our lives, for the company of our 2023-05-09 House Journal Page 0988 colleagues, friends, community, and families, and for the opportunity to serve together on behalf of Alaskans across the state. On this day, let us also be mindful. Let us be mindful of the many people whose lives are impacted by the decisions we make. Let us be kind and thoughtful towards those family members, colleagues, friends, and staff who daily work hard and who make sacrifices on our behalf in order that we may better come to this work whole and with a readiness to make such mindful decisions. On this day, and on every day, let us treat one another and all Alaskans with dignity, with integrity, and with respect. Let us strive to fulfill our duties with the right mix of courage and compassion. And let us each respect the land, the traditions, and the people whose honor it is we have to represent. Amen.
