Senators Reinbold, Shower were absent. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Reverend Michael Grubbs, Ordained Deacon, Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Lord, Thank you for the men and women who serve Alaska in the State Senate. Please provide our Senators with reminders each day of why they decided to dedicate their lives to public service and use that commitment to encourage them. Give them peace when their work takes them away from their families. We pray especially for the wives, husbands and children of our Senators. We ask that you draw near to them and give them the wisdom to know how best to support one another when their loved one works in the Senate. Amen. SB 171 Senator Stevens, Chair, moved and asked unanimous consent SENATE BILL NO. 171 "An Act disapproving the recommendations of the State Officers Compensation Commission; and providing for an effective date" be waived from the Rules Committee for placement on the calendar. Without objection, it was so ordered. The bill is on today's calendar. Senator Hughes moved and asked unanimous consent the bill be considered engrossed, advanced to third reading and placed on final passage. Without objection, it was so ordered. SENATE BILL NO. 171 was read the third time. The question being: "Shall SENATE BILL NO. 171 "An Act disapproving the recommendations of the State Officers Compensation Commission; and providing for an effective date" pass the Senate?" Senator Begich moved and asked unanimous consent to be excused from a call of the Senate from noon plane time, February 18 through morning plane time, February 23.
