Full Journal pdf2022-04-19 House Journal Page 2563 HOUSE JOURNAL ALASKA STATE LEGISLATURE THIRTY-SECOND LEGISLATURE SECOND SESSION Juneau, Alaska Tuesday April 19, 2022 Ninety-second Day Pursuant to adjournment the House was called to order by Speaker Stutes at 11:02 a.m. Roll call showed 36 members present. Representatives Nelson and Zulkosky were absent. Representative Tuck moved and asked unanimous consent that the following members be excused from a call of the House. There being no objection, the members were excused as noted: Representative Drummond – from today to 6:00 p.m., April 23 Representative Patkotak – from today to 10:00 p.m., April 24 The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Dan Wiese of Church of the Nazarene. Representative Thompson moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it was so ordered. Holy God, It is with gratitude and humility that I come before you on behalf of this group of men and women, public servants for the great state of Alaska. I pray for their day of work and meeting together, that you would continue to grant them your help, discernment, and wisdom as they work through budget negotiations and decisions. I pray for wisdom in all the issues that come before them. I pray 2022-04-19 House Journal Page 2564 for their health and well-being. I pray for the different personal burdens and struggles they might be carrying in both their professional and personal lives, Lord, that you would intervene on their behalf. I pray for their families that you would bless and help them. And I pray for their staff and all the workers here in our state capitol. Bless their work. Bless their day and bless each of them and their families. I thank you for them and all the work they do to keep things running smoothly. And I pray for the communities they represent. I pray for the many people struggling with life challenges like COVID, rising costs of living, and various other issues have made life very hard in recent months. I pray that you would guide and help those in need. Finally, Lord, this last week, as we reflected on your ultimate sacrifice for us, I thank you for your love and your grace available to all who call on your name. I thank you that you love and care about what happens in these meetings and in the very lives of every person in this place. May they know your love and grace to help and guide them through these days of both challenge and opportunity. Now, may your blessing be upon each person here in this room. I pray this in the name of Jesus, my savior. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Edgmon. The Speaker stated that, without objection, the House would stand at ease to allow members of the Senate to enter the House Chamber; and so, the House stood at ease at 11:06 a.m. JOINT SESSION IN THE HOUSE In accordance with Uniform Rule 51, Speaker Stutes turned the gavel over to President Micciche who called the joint session to order at 11:14 a.m. The purpose of the joint session was to hear an address by the Honorable Dan Sullivan, U.S. Senator. 2022-04-19 House Journal Page 2565 Senator Hughes moved and asked unanimous consent that the roll call of the Senate be waived and all members be shown as present. There being no objection, it was so ordered. Representative Tuck moved and asked unanimous consent that the roll call of the House be waived and all members be shown as present. There being no objection, it was so ordered. President Micciche appointed Representative Merrick and Senator Holland to escort the Senator to the joint session. The Senate Sergeant-at-Arms announced the Senator's entrance into the House Chamber. Senator Sullivan was escorted to the rostrum and welcomed by President Micciche. Senator Sullivan delivered his address, and it is published in Senate and House Joint Journal Supplement No. 14. A question and answer period followed the conclusion of the Senator's speech. Senator Sullivan received a standing ovation and was escorted from the Chamber by Representative Merrick and Senator Holland. Senator Hughes moved and asked unanimous consent that the joint session adjourn. There being no objection, President Micciche adjourned the joint session at 12:28 p.m. The Speaker ordered the House at ease to allow members of the Senate to leave the Chamber. IN THE HOUSE The Speaker stated that, without objection, the House would recess to 2:45 p.m.; and so, the House recessed at 12:30 p.m. 2022-04-19 House Journal Page 2566 AFTER RECESS The Speaker called the House back to order at 2:04 p.m. The House adjourned.
