Representatives Fields, Patkotak, and Vance had been excused from a call of the House today. Representative Kreiss-Tomkins was absent, and his presence was noted later. The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, Representative Cronk. Representative Thompson moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it was so ordered. With the deepest respect for the religious beliefs of all Alaskans, I offer the following prayer: Almighty God, We come to you this day a needy people. We are all here because of a desire to do what is right. We desire to serve the people of Alaska and do right by them. The challenge we face is great. The communities we serve are diverse. The goals we long to achieve are many and varied. And, for that reason, we turn to you. We need your blessing. We need your guidance. But, we recognize that without your help and guidance, we cannot reach those goals. For only you, O God, give wisdom. Only you give knowledge and understanding. By the wisdom we receive from you, we will be able to be good and to do what is right. So help us, O God, to trust in you with all of our being. Help us to to depend on you in all that we do.
