I offer the following prayer with the deepest respect for the religious differences that exist in all Alaskans: Lord, We come before you today as a political body of 40 imperfect human beings. The most imperfect of which is me, Lord. Help me to always remember that and to always follow your direction offered in the book of Matthew: Ch. 7 Verse 5 of which I'm paraphrasing: Lord, first help me to get rid of the log in my own eye; in order that I might see well enough to 2021-03-26 House Journal Page 0458 help cast out the splinters from the eyes of those around me, of which I'm far too quick to notice. We pray, dear Lord, that you instill in each of us hearts of true humility. Humility in such a way that we do not cheapen our own worth of value within, but that we take the alignment that we are here for a greater purpose than just our own gain. We pray that you will highlight to us what it truly means to live a humble life. For it is only then that we may truly live in freedom and right standing before you, dear God. Lord, we welcome you to mold and secure our hearts in true humility by your lead. And that you convict in each of us, every day as we move forward through the rest of this legislative session, to look first to all things that unite the forty of us, dear Lord, and that we work to recognize the greater good that exists in each of us through you, and to always look to use that greater good in order for us to work collectively to adopt policies that achieve the greater good for all Alaskans. In Jesus' name, Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Hopkins.
