With the deepest respect for the religious beliefs of all Alaskans, I offer the following prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for this new day and for the blessings of living here in this great state of Alaska. I 2020-03-05 House Journal Page 1804 thank you for each representative and pray your richest blessings upon them as they perform their duties in the service of all Alaskans. I'm reminded of the Apostle Paul's letter to the Romans, chapter 13, verse 1, where he wrote, Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Lord, based on these words, I believe that you have appointed each representative in this body for such a time as this. I thank you, God, for their courage in running for office and for their successful campaigns. Grant them wisdom, humility, grace, compassion, love for all people, and everything they need to excel and be good stewards of their positions that all may benefit from their efforts, and they may themselves be blessed. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Stutes.
