Representatives Jackson and Wool had been excused from a call of the House today. Representative Thompson moved and asked unanimous consent that Representative Tarr be excused from a call of the House today. There being no objection, it was so ordered. The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Brian Ewing of Calvary Fellowship Church. Representative Shaw moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it was so ordered. Father, thank you that you are the one who is both incredibly powerful beyond our comprehension and infinitely gentle to the wounded and broken-hearted. You, according to an ancient song, stitch together the burst hearted and wrap up their deeply carved wounds. The burst hearted and the wounded are very real and are out there on the streets of our cities, but they are also very real in here in this Chamber. Would you enable us to be deeply honest with ourselves before you today. A great king in the middle of a scandal of 2019-04-26 House Journal Page 0712 titanic proportions once said, The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. And another great king who had gone insane with power and pride saw his hold on power crumble and lost everything only regaining it when he ultimately looked up from his insanity to you. In his own words saying, At the end of those days I ...lifted my eyes to heaven, and my reason returned to me,...; Father, enable us to lift up our eyes from our own petty power plays and pride and look to you. In our wounded brokenness let us first be changed by you and then empowered to effect a change in our districts. I ask this as one of your broken followers and in the authority of Jesus Christ. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Knopp. CERTIFICATION OF THE JOURNAL Representative Thompson moved and asked unanimous consent that the journal for the 100th and 101st legislative days be approved as certified by the Chief Clerk. There being no objection, it was so ordered.
