Senator Gardner was excused from a call of the Senate. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Senator Hughes. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. My Lord, You arose! Yes, You've risen indeed! I'm thrilled you did because not only did it change history but your victorious triumph over death gave us a way to be reunited with our Creator - here on earth and beyond this earth. I'm so thankful for that. Lord, you know what else I'm grateful for today? I'm grateful beyond words for the ultimate love you demonstrated through your death and resurrection. You laid it on the line for us. Your love for us is unfathomably deep and never ending - beyond measure - that no matter how imperfect we are, no matter our shortcomings, your love is totally unconditional, totally accepting. People sometimes fail us, but YOU never, ever will. That assurance is so solid, so strong, so true, so real - it keeps us centered and grounded when we trust You. And so, I cannot thank you enough on this celebration day of Your resurrection. Your sacrifice proved Your heart is for us. Your arising from the grave proved Your heart is 2017-04-16 Senate Journal Page 0984 still with us. And now, today, Your love overwhelms us, surrounds us, and compels us most importantly to love others, and to do so unconditionally and with total acceptance, just as You do for us. Thus I pray that as we work through our differences here in the capital - until we find resolution and can adjourn and return home to our districts and families for the summer - in the midst of it all, help us care deeply about one another, even more than we do ourselves; help us extend grace and understanding to one another; help us recognize the value and tend to the uniqueness of each soul, of each person; yes, dear Lord, help us to truly love one another. I pray this in Your name, Jesus Christ, the One Who Arose and Who Loves Us Always. Amen. Senator Hughes led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance. Certification Senator Micciche moved and asked unanimous consent that the journal for the eighty-ninth legislative day be approved as certified by the Secretary. Without objection, it was so ordered.
