Senator Coghill was excused from a call of the Senate. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Nathan Stearman, Juneau Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Good morning, Lord! What a magnificent day it is! A grand reminder of the wonder and beauty of our great state-in which each of us are grateful to share some part. Today these senators continue to wrestle with the challenge of balancing our state finances and meeting the financial demands of operating such a large, diverse state. I ask for wisdom on their behalf. They are also challenged with meeting the varied demands of the many peoples of our great state. Today I ask for wisdom on behalf of these senators as they carry the wellbeing of this great state on their shoulders-addressing these real and present challenges. Grant them wisdom in the decisions they make regarding the Alaska Marine Highway. Also bless their efforts as they intend to set aside February as Black History Month here in the state of Alaska. Thank you, God! Amen. 2017-02-27 Senate Journal Page 0360 Senator Begich led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance.
