With the deepest respect for the religious beliefs of all Alaskans, I offer the following prayer: 2018-04-26 House Journal Page 3432 Father God in Heaven, it is with humble heart we come to you in thanksgiving, prayer, and petition. Hallowed is your name above all and your kingdom has no end. We thank you for the opportunity to serve the state of Alaska. We thank you that we are given the opportunity to be lawmakers. We thank you for our personal prosperity; those as simple as good friends and family and those that are comparative as our warm homes, personal health, and tangible possessions. Father God, right now we recognize our calling, an opportunity to be able to make a difference, and we ask that we not take it lightly. We pray for the inmates, which we've witnessed to this legislative session. Father, you know their hearts, their cares, their needs, and their sorrows. Father God, as they give their lives to you, envisioning eternal life with their savior in heaven, we ask you to forgive them their trespasses. Your word says, you even cloth and feed the sparrows, we ask that you help us remember the needs of the homeless and the single parent. We lift up the needs of the elderly as they grow older and become more dependent. Father God, hear the broken hearts of the foster child, give them a stable and loving environment. Provide them hope and an answer to their prayers. We pray for the unborn child in this world, that their lives aren't for naught. Give assurance to the recovering addict and a lighted path to those that are still lost. We pray for our children and grandchildren that they can grow and learn to become productive and giving in nature. Father God, so much is on our plate; yet we know so much is in your hands. Father, guide us. It is in Jesus' name that I pray. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Johnston.
