Senators Ellis, Kelly, McGuire, Olson, Stoltze were absent. The prayer was offered by Lieutenant Commander Ray Rivers, Chaplain, District 17 United States Coast Guard. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Heavenly Father, thank you for this day, for every day is a gift from your hand. And for all of our challenges we thank you so much for living in this free country: freedom to express ourselves - so many freedoms. We thank you for the military personnel and first responders who help keep us free and safe. We also thank you so much for this great state of Alaska, and, again, the military, the state National Guard and others, and the first responders that keep us safe. And today I want to thank you for the legislators and senators, and I pray, Lord, that you would give these senators a special amount of wisdom as they look to you in faith. As this legislative season is coming to a close and there are many things to do, I pray that they would have patience and wisdom from you. I pray for their families back home that their time apart would be short and that their reunion would be sweet. And I 2016-04-15 Senate Journal Page 2528 pray, Lord, that we would all look to you to have compassion for our fellow man from you, compassion for our fellow man for each other and for the citizens of this great state. Thank you for every day as a gift from you, thank you that we can put our faith in you each day, and I thank you for your mercies that are new each day. I lift this up and I pray this in the powerful and precious name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Senator Wielechowski led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance.
