The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Beverly Smith, Christian Science Church. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Our prayer today is an affirmation of thy goodness and of our total trust that you are governing and guiding us to do what needs to be done this session. I will read from the book of Psalms: Hear my prayer, O Lord, and let my cry come unto thee. How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law. Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning: for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee. 2016-01-27 Senate Journal Page 1688 In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion. And finally, Lord, we trust your precious promise: The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace. Amen.
