Representatives Hawker and Reinbold had been excused from a call of the House today. Representative Olson was absent. Representative Millett moved and asked unanimous consent that Representatives Colver and Nageak be excused from a call of the House today. There being no objection, it was so ordered. The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, the Reverend Sue Bahleda of Resurrection Lutheran Church. Representative Wilson moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it was so ordered. Resurrection Lutheran Church was honored to host the memorial service for Max Gruenberg. As many of you may know, when a pastor is not available for an invocation, you all are called upon to do that. When Max was called upon he would sometimes do that with gusto and surprise. So today in celebration of Representative Spohnholz and in remembrance of Representative Max Gruenberg, and with respect to the diversity of voices, beliefs, and practices that call out to a power beyond our individual selves, I offer the following prayer: 2016-03-11 House Journal Page 1814 Zip a dee doo dah, zip a dee ay My, oh my, what a wonderful day. We thank you, Hope-Giving One, for the men and women gathered here today. Guide these public servants that they may do the work before them in a spirit of wisdom, charity, and justice. Make them bold and generous in their call to serve faithfully and to promote our common life. Bless them, bless those that depend upon them, and bless this great land that is our home. Lift our hearts, lift our spirits, and lift our hope that we may sing "Wonderful feelin', wonderful day." Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Neuman.
