Representatives Edgmon and Seaton were absent and their presence was noted later. The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, the Reverend Dr. Douglas Dye of Chapel by the Lake Presbyterian Church. Good and gracious God, as we begin this day we turn to you and ask for your blessing and strength. Help us to remember that you are always with us and encourage us to seek your wisdom this day. The Psalmist declared, "This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." (Psalm 118:24) Loving God, keep us mindful that this day, this very day, is your gift to us. As these House members move through their busy schedules, hearten them with the knowledge that their lives are in your loving and generous hands. Fill them with gratitude for the beauty of this day so they can rejoice in the unique opportunities and blessings that will come to them. O Lord of all life, I thank you that you have called these men and women to serve our state. Grant them wisdom and 2015-02-25 House Journal Page 0306 energy to do their work well. Protect their families, Lord. They are far from home and separated from ones they love. I pray that your hand of grace and protection lay securely on those whom they hold in their hearts. Dear heavenly Father, reassure those facing special challenges and concerns that you are with them and watch over them. And at the end of this day, I pray they will be able to look back on the events of today and know that you walked with them. For "this is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." I pray these things in the name of my Lord, Jesus. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Keller.
