The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Sister Marie Lucek, Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Gracious God, I call on you to bless the legislators gathered here today as they meet to conduct the affairs of the state of Alaska. This is a serious responsibility; I ask you to guide their thoughts and their speech as they make decisions that will affect us all. Help them to open their minds and hearts to the spirit of fairness and to reach agreement on those issues that can be divisive. Give them a broad view of the needs of all people in this state as they thoughtfully review each bill that passes before them. In the Bible in the book of Luke we read: "Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap." God, this is what I ask for our legislators who give of their time, talent, and energy to ensure that our state truly serves the needs of its peoples. I ask this of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen. Senator Fairclough led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance. 2014-03-19 Senate Journal Page 2080 Certification Senator Coghill moved and asked unanimous consent that the journal for the fifty-seventh legislative day be approved as certified by the Secretary.
