Senators McGuire, Stedman were absent. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Steve Evenson of the Juneau Seventh-day Adventist Church. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. Our Father in Heaven, Thank you for the blessings of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. This day, here in this place, may there be understanding, clearness of mind and sound judgment for the people of the great state of Alaska. May we respect those who have gone before us; blazing a trail that has led us to this place and time. Without objection, the Senate recessed at 10:51 a.m. After Recess Joint Session in the House Speaker Chenault called the House to order and in accordance with Uniform Rule 51 turned the gavel over to President Huggins, who called the Joint Session to order at 11:01 a.m. The purpose of the Joint Session was to hear an address by the Honorable Lisa Murkowski, U.S. Senator. Senator Coghill moved and asked unanimous consent that the roll call of the Senate be waived and all members be shown as present. Without objection, it was so ordered. Representative Pruitt moved and asked unanimous consent that the roll call of the House be waived and all members be shown as present. Without objection, it was so ordered. President Huggins appointed Representative Millett and Senator Fairclough to escort Senator Lisa Murkowski to the Joint Session. 2013-02-21 Senate Journal Page 0363 The Senate Sergeant-at-Arms, Grace Ellsworth, announced Senator Murkowski's entrance to the House Chamber. The Honorable Lisa Murkowski was escorted to the rostrum and welcomed by President Huggins. Senator Murkowski delivered her address. This address appears in House and Senate Joint Journal Supplement No. 3. Following her address, there was a question and answer period. The Honorable Lisa Murkowski received a standing ovation and was escorted from the chamber by Senator Fairclough and Representative Millett. Senator Coghill moved and asked unanimous consent that the Joint Session stand in adjournment.
