In deepest respect for the religious beliefs of each person here, I invite you into a time of prayer and reflection. Let us pray. Creator God, I thank you for the things we often take for granted: a roof over our heads, food to eat, and water to drink. I thank you, Creator God, also for these people gathered. I pray today for your Spirit of love and kindness to be here among the legislators gathered today and in the weeks ahead. May their decision-making and their discussions be mindful of one another and of our fellow Alaskans. I pray for blessings on this gathering and the families of these individuals.
