Senators Davis, McGuire, Wagoner were excused from a call of the Senate. The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Bill Nelson of the United Pentecostal Church of Juneau. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered. It is with the deepest respect for the religious beliefs of all Alaskans that I offer this prayer: Thank you so much Lord, for the opportunity to call upon you, to invoke not just your name but your presence. You truly are an ever present help in a time of need. If we ever needed you, Lord, it's now. Somber news reports tell of circumstances on the horizon that concern us all. Yet you Lord are the only one who can see what is truly coming. Those of us who gladly place our plight in your hands are still reminded that you have placed government in the hands of the leaders that we have chosen to represent us. The decisions before this Legislature will affect hundreds of thousands of Alaskans and many times that in future generations. This is a heavy burden to 2012-01-27 Senate Journal Page 1304 bear. I pray that you make them equal to the task - and greater than the task - by giving vision, wisdom, clarity of purpose and true love and care for the people they represent, and for the land and wildlife they represent. God, you are a friend that is closer than a brother. May we all remember to call on you for help in making life decisions, especially when they impact those we love and care for and those we represent. I know that you richly bless those who do. Again Lord, thank you. Amen. Senator Ellis led the Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance. Certification Senator Meyer moved and asked unanimous consent that the journals for the ninth and tenth legislative days be approved as certified by the Secretary. Without objection, it was so ordered.
