Over the past week I have offered a few simple words for
edification and a short prayer. I pray that these words have
been useful, and I thank the Chamber for hosting me.

In our lives we are always looking to find inner peace. This is
a common theme amongst the ancient Desert Fathers. I would
like to offer a brief anecdote from one of the ancient Desert
Fathers, Abba Poemen (Poemen is Greek for "the shepherd"

"A brother asked Abba Poemen, 'How should I behave in my

'Behave as if you were a stranger, and wherever you are, do
not expect your words to have an influence and you will be at
